Unfortunately, I had a really bad cold for the last class and had to miss. However, I could tell you all about what I did at my house during class time... worked on 506 homework and went to bed. Classic night. A little bit of The Golden Girls might have been tossed in there too, the nights a blur. In the Bergson piece I thought it was very interesting how the author was looking at close reading from a librarians point of view rather than a teacher's point of view. Ever since I decided to major in English, everyone and their brother has asked me if I am going to be a teacher or not. The answer was always no and they were so confused but even with all of the proding about assuming that I wanted to become a teacher, I do think from a teacher's perspective sometimes, which is why the librarian aspect of what a close read is was an interesting difference between how a teacher would view it. I was shocked, shocked I tell you, about how many people were interested in working in D.C. because of that cash flow! Holy crap, $100,000 salary?! That's crazy money in my mind. So many folks had that as their dream job, so if a quarter of our class has that as their dream job then those must be coveted positions all over the place. My dream job is truly to make a substantial amount of money for a single person but doing what I love which is working with kids. I really just want to do programs and help them pick out books and play with puppets and sing silly songs, is that too much to ask?  That was an interesting activity, seeing how all of us are interested in various jobs, how our jobs wants varied, and how some of us have a different pay scale in mind then others. Class reflection: Thinking back to class that we had a week ago is a little bit dim in the old brain if I'm being honest because EVERY class was new last week, however, I will do my best with recollection. We had three different readings about libraries and that is where I got excited from the start to say the least. Whenever I have talked about libraries in the past with my friends or somebody passing by, they would always give me an odd look because the library is not something most people my age are excited to talk about. Hello!  My name is Stacia (Stay-Sha) and people think I'm weird for wanting to be a librarian. I attended Siena Heights University for the last four years and worked behind the desk in the library during that time (warmly being known as 'that library girl'). Everyone thought I was going to become a famous singer or go save the world full time, not only during the summer, but alas, the joke's on them. I've been learning that I love kiddo's in any age group so I decided to mix a couple of my passions into a job which was handily already made up; Youth Services Librarian.
